Frequently Asked

Why should I hire a professional to write my resume?

For the same reason you (hopefully) pay someone to cut your hair. First impressions are critical and judgements are made in a snap.

Did you know the average resume gets just six seconds of attention before decision makers move onto the next one? During my years as a medical device recruiter, I saw hundreds of resumes per day. It takes an experienced professional to take the complex and nuanced story of your career and make it compelling enough to get you a call back.

Could you do it yourself? Of course. And at first glance, like an at-home haircut, it might even look as good as the others... but have you seen the back?

What types of clients do you work with?

My clients range from recent college graduates to experienced sales professionals and C-Level executives. They all have medical device sales in common.

When I established Northour Consulting in 2014, I knew that my unique experience and contacts within the industry would allow me to build the resumes that medical device recruiters and hiring managers are looking for, while highlighting what makes you stand out from the crowd.

How does the process work?

Once you’ve signed up to work with me, we'll schedule a 60 minute call where I'll gather information, uncover your unique experiences and achievements, and begin crafting your story. Each resume is custom built, no questionnaires for you to fill out.

Want to add or tweak anything? A round of revisions is included with each resume. We’ll make sure it’s perfect. Your final resume will be delivered in both Word and PDF formats and optimized for Applicant Tracking Software.

Am I guaranteed my dream job?

Think of it like the NFL. I'll get you to the Super Bowl, but it's up to you to earn the ring. Is your head in the game? Have you showed up to practice and studied the plays? Did you leave it all out on the field? Then you've got a damn good chance.

But there are factors outside of our team's control, too. So you put in the work, give it everything you've got, and if it doesn't play out in your favor, you look for the lessons, or, ya know, review the tapes. Show up next time leaner and meaner and before you know it, you're going to Disney World.

What's the turnaround time?

Once our blueprint call is complete, you can expect your resume within 3-5 business days. Rush service is available for an additional fee and guarantees your resume within 48 hours of our call.

Do I have to fill out a questionnaire?

Nope. I'll collect most everything I need from our 60 minute information gathering call. You may, however, walk away from our call with a bit of homework like finding your sales numbers or the names of awards you've won. Try to have those ready beforehand, whenever possible.

The exception? If you don't currently have a resume and we're starting from scratch, I'll ask you to fill out a short form with the absolute basics so we won't waste time on our call spelling out your street name.

I work in finance, engineering, software, etc... Will you still write my resume?

Probably not. Due to the sheer volume of requests, we’re unable to accommodate most professionals outside of the medical sales industry. Spots on the waitlist are through referral only.
